Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia

We are still taking our road trips within Nova Scotia, and I think we will never see all there is to see here.  Like on this trip.  I was never really aware that Cape Sable Island is the most southwest point you can go in N.S.  I also learned it has the tallest  lighthouse in Nova Scotia of 101 ft.  You can view it from a place called the Hawk.  There is also a place called the drowned forest, that can be viewed at low tide, it discovered I believe 1300 yrs ago.  There is also a carving in Clarks Harbour that was done in the early 1900's and has withstood many storms and is still standing.  The artist became well known in the US I believe.  So with all of this info, I had to make a journey there.

This is the lighthouse you can see off in the distance. 101 ft tall.

This rock sure looks like a hawk to me, maybe that is how the place got it's name, and it is facing the lighthouse.

A very nice memorial to those lost at sea.



I read that this is where the Atlantic Ocean meets with the Bay of Fundy.



Clarks Harbour

There were a few beaches, this is one we stopped at.

The white sand extends around the corner, very  nice.

A piping plover.

The causeway that was built and the only access to the Island where once a ferry boat had to get the people across.
