Junk Finds

We are from a University town, and when they leave in April, they just throw everything out (most).  It is unreal what the students leave behind.  It has become an annual thing now in Wolfville.  Spring cleanup is at the same time and the annual Dump and Run is also at the same time.  Alot of the students donate their stuff to that.  So if I happen to see something I can't live without, haha, I will get the nerve to stop.  As embarrassing as it is, it is also fun.  If the Junk Brothers can do it why can't I!  I will show you one of my finds, which is a different looking table, looks old to me.  I don't think it is from a student, can't be sure.  The whole town joins in.  I also found a yellow pair of rubber boots with blue whales on them!  I am excited about that haha.

Now isn't that worth the shame, haha.

Pizza

We got treated this week by our daughter.  Her boyfriend was working so she offered to make us supper, twice.  Well oh ya!  The first night was beer battered fish, and wedge fries done in the over.  Oh what a treat.  The second night we had homemade pizza.  She fried some lean ground beef, some reduce salt bacon, green peppers, red peppers, portabello mushroom, onion, spices and lots of mozza cheese.  It was good!
Both of my daughters love to cook.  I don't mind, but it taste so much better when someone else does it.

I did do the crust, :)

Our Kitchen Redo

I have always disliked our kitchen cabinets and over the years my husband rebuilt the bottom ones.  And then they were different from the top.  So being female, i have always been unhappy with them.  Now that he is getting better with his carpenter skills, haha, he thought he would attempt them.  His motivation though was his favorite store Home Depot!  I can't say to keep him out of there since I benefit in the end :)  The bottom stayed the same, but we decided to paint them the same color as the top at least to  match and I am very happy!

Before, my ugly kitchen.

Thanks to an unplanned sale at Home Depot, down they come, yah!

No problems yet, I think.

The finished product.

It sure lightened up the area.  I have replaced those lower knobs and have rearranged the counter already. ha

I am so happy they are lowered, because of my height restrictions and I can put things on top.

So filling it up was easy to do.

I took out the ugly microwave stand and put my pantry.  I love my new kitchen :)

Easter 2011

We celebrate Easter in a pretty big way.  My mom and stepfather are the hosts and they outdue themselfves every year.  This year we had ham with all the trimmings.  Coconut cream pie, pumpkim pie, cherry cheese cake (my creation). Punch, tea, coffee.  Then on to the activities!  First even before dinner we have our annual easter egg hunt, with over 300 eggs hid with coins inside, makes for a very fun time.  Then we have dinner, then on to the hat contest, which I can't believe I forgot to do it.  No excuse, I remember right up until the day before and it totally left my mind!  Anyway I put a rabbit on my head and was hoping she wouldn't notice, haha.  Then on to the egg coloring contest, which my sisters artist son won, then on to guessing the eggs on the tree, my mom has a huge egg tree. with over 243 eggs on it!  The sun started to shine and we had a great day!  I hope you all did also.

The egg hunt started outside for the children.  They had fun.  This is Juliett, Jamies girlfriends daughter.
