Moving Day

My son has decided to spread his wings and fly.  He has just turned 20 and is ready to progress in life.  He has moved to the City which I never expected, with his girlfriend.  He will be doing a course in computers, plus work.  They both got jobs already, it is so  much easier down there to get jobs.  But now comes the adjustment of the empty nest.  I was fine until my son texted me on our way back home and my heart broke.  But I will never hold him back or discourage him, he is a great guy and I am sure we will see each other lots.  Can't wait to see what the future hold for them.  Now to focus on ourselves and maybe start eating right and getting some much needed exercise and continue to move forward.
Tyler, Violet and Peter.

Good thing Violets things were already there, it was packed!

They will make this place like home really fast.

Busy emotional day.

The hard part was looking back and he was still standing there, I had to get out quickly and make his father come along.

Little did I know it was as hard on him as it was on us.  But things have gotten better since that day, for all of us.

September Sunsets & Full Moon 2011

Just wanted to share this weekends beautiful skies.  The fall skies seem to be the best.  So this was this weekends beauty.
It changes minute by minute.

Red sky at night, means nice day tomorrow.

Overlooking the valley is awesome.

It turns many different colors and patterns before it is through.

Looks like a heart in the tree.

Can't go anywhere until it is over.

I got one shot of the full moon, the clouds were taking over, but it was a good  one.

A Quest for the Best Fish & Chips.

One of my favorite things is fish & chips.  So I have tried a few restaurants of the last couple of years looking for my personal favorite, as I am sure everyone has their own.  So I will give my opinion on the ones we have been to.  The picture above is when we were on vacation.  This is a place called the Muddy Moose in North Conway, New Hampshire.  It is similiar to Montana's that we have here in Canada and I will say they rated at the top.  They were a full house, but we got in quickly, everything was wood, antlers hanging.  We got to sit out on the patio, for a full house, we had great service and quick service, so I rate them nu 2 on my list.  I wish I had pictures of every place, and Peter has some on his phone as I am embarrassed to pull out the camera while eating.  Here goes my list.

My number 1 after trying a few times to make sure is Vickies in Coldbrook, Nova Scotia.  You just can't beat the service and the food, and you get plenty of it.  I usually get the haddie bits there.  Their coleslaw and tarter sauce are the best as that completes the meal.  I have a hard time to find good tarter sauce and coleslaw at places, so this place has everything and they are quick and friendly.  So they are my tops.

My nu 2 would be the Muddy Moose which I have already talked about
.
My nu 3 would be the Harbour View Restaurant in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia.  We were there and I had heard about this restaurant so we found it on the Pier Rd, and by the looks on the outside wasn't too sure but went in anyway and it was great, way nicer on the inside and the order was fast and good.  Lots of food and lots of fish.  They came in as a close second.

My nu 4 would be the Big Stop in New Minas.  Very good, lots of food and good service.

My ny 5 would be Durty Nellies in Halifax, it is an Irish pub.  Fast service, fish was good, nice pub.

My nu 6 would be Circle K in Rothesay, New Brunswick, very friendly, fast for being so busy and lots of food.  The Irving Restaurants never fail to please.

My ny 7 would be Johnny's in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.  Small and greasy, but lots of food, quick and tasty.

My nu 8 would be Elephant & Castle in Halifax, this is a British pub.  Was good but not much of it and pricy.

My nu 9 would be Grand Banker in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, small but quick service, not many fries, batter on fish was good, but not too much fish inside.  Got overcharged and had to work that out.  We will decide your tip not you.

My nu 10 would be Rosies in Wolfville also called Paddy Pub, which is an Irish pub.  I guess it all depends on the day, some days it is the best and somedays it could improve, the day they were being rated by me wasn't good the fish was overdone and I could hardly find any, not many fries as I usually get a small order and that probably makes a difference maybe.  Good service and friendly staff, so we have returned many times. But one of the few places that have fried peppronni.

My nu 11 would be Johnny's Cookhouse in Berwick/Alysford, Nova Scotia, again small, but good, and good service.

My nu 12 would be Island View in Chester, Nova Scotia, again small and busy, a local favorite, with okay food and okay service where they are so busy, I have had good food there and also not so good, but their ice cream is huge, hum.

My nu 13 would be the Seaside Take-out in Hunts Point, Nova Scotia.  Another very busy spot close to Summerville Beach.  They have gotten better this time, we got lots of fish and good ice-cream.

My nu 14 would be Walkers in Windsor, Nova Scotia.  Don't care for the fries, fish good at times.  Peter loves their Hot Hamburger.  Great service, friendly, have been there a few times and would recommend.

My nu 15 would be Garlands Crossing, good order but batter was overdone which very little fish to be found inside, but friendly good service.

My nu 16 would be Swiss Chalet in New Minas, Nova Scotia.  Okay, but wouldn't rush back, good service.

My nu 17 would be The Battered Fish in Bedford, Nova Scotia.  It is just a bus by the road, wouldn't return for seconds.

My nu 18 would be the Chicken Burger in Bedford.  They may be known for their famous Chicken Burgers so maybe stick to that because the fish and chips was a flop!

Also an honorable mention to a restaurant no longer in business.  That would be Bubbles in Halifax, as for the character in the Trailer Park Boys, Bubbles owned the place and it was so cool!  Little shopping carts on the tables, and rooms down up as they would look on the show and we even got to see Bubbles and Peter and Tyler got pics with him, how cool is that.  Well there are some I may have forgotten about and my do this again sometime, now it's time to go on a diet and get rid of my fish & chip fat, haha.
